Oregon - Days 3, 4 and 5

Day 3 we had planned to move on to a town in the center of the Oregon wine country called McMinnville. We took a very round about way to get there and spent a lot of time in the car, but we got to see some beautiful waterfalls.

Proof we were there.

We finally made our way there and ate at a very good brew pub. Not too much else to report for that day.

Day 4 we planned to visit wine country. 16 years ago, when Kent and I hardly knew each other, we took off on a road trip to visit Kent's friend Jason (who is now also my friend) in Oregon. While we were there we found all of these little wineries along the roadside. Kent and I decided to try to recreate that trip and search out the same wineries we found then. We did not have much luck. By the end of the day we had only been to two wineries and discovered we still really aren't wine drinkers.

Day 5, our flight didn't leave until 5:00 so we had the entire day to spend in Portland. Only problem was we didn't know what to do in Portland. We found a farmers market and spent about an hour trying to find a parking spot (not exaggerating) and then spent about 15 minutes at the market (again, not exaggerating). Then we tried to find a McDonald's to use their bathroom and could not find one to save our lives. We finally found a Chevron and then decided to find someplace for lunch. We had a very crappy guide book for Portland which told us a spot for lunch called the Burger Bar. When we got there it was tiny, it really only had a bar to sit at. So we tried to find another spot to eat and ended up at some french bakery. Then we still had time to kill so Kent found our way to an Ikea and low and behold there are all sorts of stores and a million restaurants! We killed time there and flew home. I was very glad to sleep in my own bed.

Have you tried Chipotle for burritos? It is totally our favorite. They are SO not good for you, (try 33 WW points...GASP!) But oh they are so scrumptious.

W.O.W. you guys had a BLAST! The scenery is killing me, it is so beautiful. Did Kent fly the plane? It sounded like it. I didn't know he had his license! (Otherwise, explain the "reaching the pedals" comment). :) Glad you had a great time (minus the farmers market). Heh. Looks beautiful!!!
