Today Rachelle and I went to the annual Day on the Quad at USU. This is traditionally one of our best recruiting days of the year. Last year we came home with 50 applications. We got there bright and early (turns out earlier than we needed to be there) and we got our table assignment. It was in a terrible spot, right on the corner that we just knew people were going to cut. Then the College of Ag starts to set up next to us and proceeds to plunk this down right in front of our table:

Nothing like a double life-sized cow to block your view! After about a 1/2 hour of people walking in front of the cow, and away from us, I finally got up and asked them to please herd the giant bovine back about 20 feet. They were very nice and did just that. I am beginning to think there really isn't a great spot at Day on the Quad. Last year we were placed next to the most
annoying Mary Kay sales lady I have ever encountered. I so desperately wanted to take one of our stress balls and bounce it off the back of her head. The year before that we were seated next to some sort of
Medieval club who began a sword fighting
competition in full
chain mail, again, right in front of our booth.
On the plus side we did get 30 applications (yes, less than last year, I blame the beef), lunch paid for by some poor student who dropped money in the grass,
Obama 08 signs, and a spiffy farmers tan.
P.S. to earlier posts: There is such a thing as bad cake, it's called fruit cake. I finished The Host without cheating and it was really hard!
